Operators Similar to Contractions and Their Similarity to a Normal Operator

چکیده
It has been established quite recently [1], that a contraction T , having finite defects (rank (I − T T ), rank (I − TT ) < ∞) and the spectrum σ(T ) not filling in the closed unit disk D, is similar to a normal operator if and only if C1(T ) = sup λ6∈σ(T ) ||(T − λ)|| · dist(λ, σ(T )) < ∞. It was shown later [9], that the “only if” part of the assertion is no longer true if T is not a contraction. It is natural to ask what larger (than the class of contractions) classes of operators obey the linear resolvent growth test, formulated above. In this paper, we obtain results of the same type for operators that are similar to a contraction. Their proofs are based on a refined version of a theorem obtained in [6].

On the Similarity of Centered Operators to Contractions
In this paper we show that every power bounded operator weighted shift with commuting normal weights is similar to a contraction. As an application of this result, we reduce the problem whether every centered power bounded operator is similar to a contraction to the analogous question about quasi-invertible centered operators.
متن کاملA new vector valued similarity measure for intuitionistic fuzzy sets based on OWA operators
Plenty of researches have been carried out, focusing on the measures of distance, similarity, and correlation between intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs).However, most of them are single-valued measures and lack of potential for efficiency validation. In this paper, a new vector valued similarity measure for IFSs is proposed based on OWA operators. The vector is defined as a two-tuple consisting of ...
متن کاملPerturbations of Operators Similar to Contractions and the Commutator Equation
Abstract. Let T and V be two Hilbert space contractions and let X be a linear bounded operator. It was proved by C. Foias and J.P. Williams that in certain cases the operator block matrix R(X ;T, V ) (equation (1.1) below) is similar to a contraction if and only if the commutator equation X = TZ−ZV has a bounded solution Z. We characterize here the similarity to contractions of some operator ma...

متن کاملL-FUZZY BILINEAR OPERATOR AND ITS CONTINUITY
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of L-fuzzybilinear operators. We obtain a decomposition theorem for L-fuzzy bilinearoperators and then prove that a L-fuzzy bilinear operator is the same as apowerset operator for the variable-basis introduced by S.E.Rodabaugh (1991).Finally we discuss the continuity of L-fuzzy bilinear operators.
